Slatwall Merchandising Ideas to Boost Your Business

 

Any retail business owner will understand that showcasing merchandise effectively is the easiest way to attract a customer’s attention.

Eye-level in retail stores is generally considered to be 1.2m to 1.6m from the floor.  This is the zone that grabs the highest attention from customers.  Therefore, you should plan your slatwall display around positioning your highest-selling or most profitable products in this zone.   If customers often by add-on products that work with these products consider placing them nearby.

Outside of the eye-level zone place you less important products.  Products that people might want to touch and feel should in the lower portion below eye-level at the level of people’s hands.  Products that might interest children and heavy products that could be a safety risk up high are also good to place here.  Lighter products or products that can capture interest from a distance are good products to place up high.

Using Blank Space & Placement Strategies To Grab Attention

Once you have decided on which products to place at each level now consider how to make them stand out.  Maintaining some space around products can ensure the product stands and does not look cluttered.  Organising products of similar size in vertical lines or blocks can also add visual emphasis.  These vertical lines and blocks can be further segmented by mixing shelves with hanging arms or hooks.  A whole vertical line of shelves might also break up the wall to create emphasis on products on or adjacent to the shelves.

Alternatively, placing posters in slatwall poster holders or slatwall brochure holders can also grab attention.  Blocks of colourful products may be suitable in some retail store displays make a focal point.  The main point is to organise your wall so that when a customer scans your store their eye is is drawn to the most important products and they can easily find what they are looking for.

Rotating Stock In Seasonal Campaigns Made Easy

For those retailers who prefer to rotate stock to suit seasonal displays, it is possible to obtain a broad range of slatwall accessories that let you change stock as required without needing to amend or move existing shopfittings.

As an example, smaller items can be placed, arranged or folded onto slatwall shelving. Some items may be better displayed hanging from slatwall hooks, which can be ideal for clothing or individually packaged products. Even though you may have created highly visible product displays along slatwall systems within your store, there may be some products you want to highlight over others. This is especially true during sale times or promotional periods.

As customers enter your store, it is likely they will see a range of shelves and displays positioned around the floor. However, in order to draw attention to a sale or special promotion, you can opt to hang marketing signs or banners from a strategically hung cable system.  As the space above your displays goes largely unused, why not find ways to use it for your business’s benefit?

Use Slatwall In Window Displays To Capture People Passing By

Likewise, you can also use a slatwall panel installed within your window display as a convenient notice board or easily updateable display. The whole idea is to draw attention from passing foot-traffic long enough to entice them to come into the store. 

As a general rule you have 1 second to capture a customer’s attention for every 1m of wall.  Your internal shop fittings and displays will do the job of showcasing your products but the number of products, posters or items to ensure customers can take them in as they wall by.
